Audi Q5: Brake Rotor, Brake 1LA/1LJ/1ZB/1ZT, Removing and Installing

Removing

- Remove the brake caliper with the brake pads and front brake carrier. Refer to → Chapter "Brake Caliper, Brake 1LA/1LJ/1ZB/1ZT, Removing and Installing".

- Remove the bolt -arrow- on the brake rotor while holding the brake rotor firmly.

- Remove the brake rotor.

  Note

When removing the brake rotor from the wheel hub, do not tilt the brake rotor.

Installing

Clean the brake rotor, wheel hub and contact surfaces before installing.

- Place the brake rotor on the hub.

  Note

When positioning the brake rotor, do not tilt it on the wheel hub.

- Install the securing bolt -arrow- and tighten.

- Install the brake caliper with the brake pads and front brake carrier. Refer to → Chapter "Brake Caliper, Brake 1LA/1LJ/1ZB/1ZT, Removing and Installing".

  WARNING

There is the risk of an accident.

  • Before moving the vehicle, press the brake pedal firmly several times to seat the brake pads correctly in their operating position.
  • Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle.

Removing

- Remove the brake caliper. Refer to → Chapter "Brake Caliper, Brake 1LB/1LC/1LE/1LP, Removing and Installing".

- Remove the securing bolt -5- on the brake disc while holding the disc firmly.

- Remove the brake rotor from the wheel hub.

  Note

When removing the brake rotor from the wheel hub, do not tilt the brake rotor.

Installing

- Clean the contact surfaces on the wheel hub and brake rotor. Remove any corrosion.

- Place the brake rotor on the hub.

  Note

When positioning the brake rotor, do not tilt it on the wheel hub.

- Install the bolt -5- and tighten.

- Install the brake caliper. Refer to → Chapter "Brake Caliper, Brake 1LB/1LC/1LE/1LP, Removing and Installing".

  WARNING

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • Torque Wrench 1331 5-50Nm -VAG1331-
  • Torque Wrench 1332 40-200Nm -VAG1332-

Removing

- Remove the brake caliper. Refer to → Chapter "Brake Caliper, Removing and Installing, Brake 1LV and 1ZK, SQ5".

- Remove the screw -19- from the brake rotor.

- Remove the brake rotor.

- Clean the brake rotor and the wheel hub before installing the brake rotor.

Installing

  Note

Pay attention to the left or right installed locations when installing the brake rotors.

- Place the brake rotor on the hub.

  Note

Do not tilt the brake rotor when mounting it on the wheel hub.

- Install and tighten the bolt -19-

- Install the brake caliper. Refer to → Chapter "Brake Caliper, Removing and Installing, Brake 1LV and 1ZK, SQ5".

  WARNING

  • Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle.
